Illustrator Assignments

Not A Box

When you were a little kid you could play in a cardboard box all day imagining it to be a race car or a tower. Now you're challenged with coming up with something similar using your Illustrator skills. Based on Antoinette Portis' Book Not A Box.

Party Planning

Create a series of party pieces that are unified by the design. You must create an invitation and 3 other pieces for your party.

Discussion:

What makes a good invitation?

Lets look here at several examples of invites for the same type of party and see which ones make good use of the principles of design - Contrast, Repetition, Alignment & Proximity!

Infographic

Create a visual interpretation of data in a easily readable poster - aka an Infographic. Choose a topic listed below, research information and display the information visually. The poster must be easily readable, use proper facts/numbers found when researching topic and be visually interesting.

Branding

Create a brand identity for a coffee or tea shop. The brand identity will include a logo, business card and a 3 piece package design. Brainstorm & sketch 8-10 ideas in your sketchbook for each piece - logo designs, business card designs & packaging design ideas. Using Adobe Illustrator, design your brand & mockup all of your package designs - be neat when putting it all together, as presentation is KEY!
